🐾 The Basics
What is PawXchange? ▼
PawXchange is a peer-to-peer mobile app that lets pet owners exchange care — boarding, dog walking, drop-in visits, and home care — using a virtual currency called Treats. There is no cash exchanged between members. Every member is a verified pet owner.
How do Treats work? ▼
Treats are PawXchange's virtual currency. When you provide pet care to another member — boarding their dog, doing a drop-in visit, or going for a walk — you earn Treats. When your own pet needs care, you spend Treats. New members receive 50 Treats when they join. Treats have no cash value and cannot be converted to money. All Treats expire if your membership is not renewed.
Is PawXchange free? ▼
Membership costs $129/year. There are no additional fees between members — all care is exchanged using Treats. No cash ever passes between pet owners. Compare this to Rover, which charges 20-25% per booking on top of the sitter's rate.
How is PawXchange different from Rover? ▼
Rover connects pet owners to professional paid sitters and charges fees per booking (typically 20-25%). PawXchange is a community exchange — members help each other and earn Treats in return. No money changes hands between members. Every PawXchange member owns a pet, creating a community of mutual trust rather than a commercial marketplace.
💳 Membership & Pricing
What is the membership cost? ▼
Standard membership is $129/year. The first 50 Founding Members join FREE for their first year — no credit card required to start. After year one, the standard rate of $129/year applies. A Premium Pack add-on ($49/year) provides 30 extra Treats per month for members who receive more care than they provide — these monthly Treats expire at end of each month.
Can I use PawXchange if I can't care for other pets? ▼
Yes — the Premium Pack add-on ($49/year) gives you 30 extra Treats per month, allowing you to receive care even if your schedule doesn't allow you to provide much care yourself. Important: these 30 monthly Treats expire at the end of each calendar month — unused Treats do not roll over to the next month. All Treats (including those earned by providing care) expire if your annual membership is not renewed.
🛡️ Safety & Trust
How does PawXchange ensure pet safety? ▼
PawXchange uses: identity verification (Stripe Identity), personal references, community ratings, check-in/check-out photo requirements, GPS live tracking during walks, and an AI-powered pet wellbeing check on photos — powered by Claude AI by Anthropic. Unverified members do not appear in the Explore map.
What pets are accepted? ▼
PawXchange supports dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, turtles, and more. Each member's profile specifies which animals they can accept in their home.
